Compliments to the Chief
Posted 17 November 2009 | by Justin Solitrin

Some nice words from Joerg Colberg about Kyle Ferino: "In a photography world obsessed with age I have been trying to avoid looking at age. That said, when I first saw Kyle Ferino's I was very impressed: He is 23 years old, something you would never guess from the depth and quality of his work." From sharing an apartment to sharing good news and deserved words- here's to another 23 years of depth and quality in both work and friendship.
Check out more of Kyle's work on his website and on page 31 of this issue of Tokion.

Getting Skrappy
Posted 13 November 2009 | by Justin Solitrin

What remains when the dust settles following a 12-round fight between fashion, art, pop culture, and comfort? The answer- a slick line of shirts from Skrapper. The brand has artist William Quigley trading in the canvas for the t-shirt, offering wearable cultural icons and less than subtle statements. The Skrapper line is inspired by the streets of Soho and downtown New York with designs that are both rare and collectible, since they are offered in limited-edition runs. The Skrapper collection includes crew-neck and v-neck T-shirts, available in sizes S through XXL and offered in various eco-friendly blends such as pima cotton with bamboo. Each has five, signature inkblots that festoon the back left shoulder of every shirt. Get yours.

Gates Style
Posted 13 November 2009 | by Ian Collins

TOKION got down with lingerie models and red velvet cake last week at The Gates in Chelsea to celebrate the birthday of singer and nightlife impresario Redd Stylez (he's the promotional director and a part owner of the posh lounge). As the official media sponsor, we were psyched to see people flipping through our Chloe Sevigny issue, and even more excited to drink lots of complimentary Absolut Vodka. That dude in lower right-hand corner was really psyched about his haircut.
